How Are Owning and Trusting an EDC Holster Different?

By

Simply owning a few concealed carry holsters and actually trusting your EDC system are two very different things. You can own a holster that isn’t quite right for your body type or doesn’t exactly match your loadout. These shortcomings can affect your confidence in your holster, your firearm, and even your skills. If you can’t count on your holster to hold the gun in the same place every time, you can’t be confident in your draw. Here’s how you can find a holster you can truly trust.

Proper Retention

Proper retention is a vital quality in an EDC holster. Holsters made from Kydex use friction for retention, but they can also have other retention methods. They retain firearms well, are durable, and provide reliable comfort. Unlike leather holsters, they don’t have a break-in period. That means they’re easy to draw from immediately, even with retention. If you’re worried that your concealed carry firearm is going to move around in your holster as you move throughout the day, you can’t trust your holster when you actually need it.

Reliability

Another key factor for concealed holsters is reliability. A comfortable appendix carry holster should keep your handgun in the same place every time so you can draw it the same way each time you reach for it. You want to be sure it doesn’t print, which may take a concealment claw or wing, or an extra wedge for larger handguns with flared magwells. Most of all, you want to be confident that your holster will perform exactly as you expect, even in an unexpected situation. That level of reliability is essential.

 Psychological Confidence

When you find a holster you can trust, you also gain the psychological confidence you need to be prepared for anything. You know the holster will stay in place and be comfortable enough to wear all day long. Having an EDC system that is dependable, tough, and ready for anything life brings your way means you can always count on your holster to function properly. That’s the kind of confidence you need to respond quickly when it’s time to take action.

IWB vs. Appendix Carry: What’s the Difference for EDC?

Inside the waistband holsters are a popular way to concealed carry your firearm. But is an appendix carry pistol holster better than a different kind of IWB holster? Or is it just a matter of personal preference? The distinction may sound minor, but it can make a difference in everything from draw speed to comfort. Here’s everything you need to know so you can pick the right holster for your EDC setup. Inside the Waistband IWB is a common concealed carry position. It’s often worn behind the hip, between the 3 and 5 o’clock positions. This offers a slower draw speed compared to an appendix carry holster, as it requires reaching farther around your body. Wearing Kydex holsters in this common IWB position is easier to hide for larger body types, but it can print easily when you bend or crouch. It is, however, highly comfortable, especially if you are concealed carrying all day. It’s also quite forgiving when you move around, but less so when you are sitting. Appendix Car...

Training with the gear you carry every day is essential. Whether your goal is building muscle memory or becoming more comfortable wearing holsters for concealed carry , your EDC system is the setup you’ll have in any real-world situation. You need consistent practice so you know how to handle your firearm, especially in a high-stress situation. Here are a few reasons why practicing with your EDC setup is essential. Develop Muscle Memory   Heading to the shooting range with the concealed carry Kydex holsters you wear every day means getting consistent practice. Drawing, aiming, and reholstering your firearm should feel like second nature and be committed to muscle memory. You shouldn’t have to think about the steps you have to take. That way, you can focus on taking action in a situation where you need to draw your weapon. These are the kinds of skills you can lose if you don’t practice them, so be sure to train often. What Carry Style Is Best For Your Body Type?

By

Choosing your preferred carry style isn’t about following trends or using the basic setup. It’s about what actually works best for your body type. The truth is, no two shooters carry exactly the same way. The proper setup for you depends on how you’re built, how you move, and how you want your gear to perform when it matters. Short Torso vs. Long Torso If you have a short torso, you’ve got less room between your waist and ribcage. That tends to make the traditional configuration of a Glock 43X holster fit awkwardly in an appendix carry position. There’s just not enough room for the grip to sit comfortably without poking into your ribs or printing through your shirt. What you might prefer is a strong side carry with added adjustable features. On the flip side, though, if you have a long torso, you usually have more options. You’ll have extra room for the appendix carry position since it can sit comfortably without heavy printing. A long torso is the appendix carry holster’s best friend...
